There's a tab under the batteries you have to remove 1st....dont go out & buy batteries!! There's plenty of gel tubes. The expiration date said 2 yrs exp on outside pkg & directions said 1 yr exp. The use of product is 1 yr beyond opening outside pkg. Further inspection proved almost a full 2 yrs were left on outer & still one full yr left upon opening & dated on the inside. WASN'T expired or past exp date!! I check dates especially in grocery. pharmacy & retail stores. was impressed by this. EXCELLENT VALUE.
